These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the KarrotCal mobile app (the "App"), operated by KarrotCal ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.

1. What KarrotCal is

KarrotCal is a calorie and macro tracker for everyday eaters. It lets you scan a meal from a photo, estimates its calories and macros, scores how healthy the plate is, and tracks your weight against a goal you set.

Not medical advice. KarrotCal provides estimates and general nutrition information for educational purposes only. It is not a medical device and is not a substitute for professional medical, dietary, or health advice. Nutrient values are approximate. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making decisions about your diet, supplements, or health, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or managing a medical condition.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the App.

3. Free use, subscriptions & billing

KarrotCal is free to download and use. On the free tier you get 2 photo scans a day; typing a meal in by hand is unlimited, and everything else in the App (your dashboard, meal breakdowns, history, health scores and profile) is free for everyone. An optional subscription removes the daily scan limit. We currently offer:

Annual: $39.99 per year
Weekly: $2.99 per week

New users may be shown a one-time discounted annual price in the App. There is no free trial and no introductory offer: the free tier is how you try the App. The following terms apply:

Payment is charged to your Apple App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
You can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renewal, in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
Prices are shown in the App and may vary by region and over time.

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their respective policies; we generally cannot issue refunds directly.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

use the App for any unlawful purpose;
reverse-engineer, copy, or resell the App except as permitted by law;
interfere with or attempt to disrupt the App or its supporting services.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos and information you add. Because your meal data is stored on your device, you are responsible for it. Any feedback you choose to send us may be used to operate and improve the App.

6. Intellectual property

The App, its design, and the KarrotCal name and logo are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms don't grant you any right to use our branding without permission.

7. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that food detection or nutrient estimates are accurate or complete, or that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, KarrotCal will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Changes

We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. When we change the Terms, we'll update the "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Termination

You can stop using the App at any time by cancelling your subscription and uninstalling it. We may suspend or end access if these Terms are violated.
